Never struggled from breakout til I had my pregnancy. Cystic acne all over my face especially on forehead and chin. It’s so frustrating that I can’t do anything about it. I am pregnant so I need to be extra careful in choosing products. Then when I gave birth I exclusively breastfeed my daughter and up to now. So acne became my bestfriend.
It was last year when I started using Essential oils for my acne (will do a separate blog about it). That was the start of my road to clear skin journey. It really helped me managed my acne. But when I am so close to having a pimple free face i was left with acne marks, visible pores, dull skin and a occasionally zit when it’s aunt flo’s visit.
This 2018, one of my goal is to have a acne free and healthy glowing skin. So I did some research for products made for pinays like me. Then while doing our grocery at S&R we stumbled upon a sales lady promoting VMV. It was a great timing because I was really eyeing for their products and I also need to repurchase VMV Armada Sunblock.
There are few bundles to choose from. But we bought the Hydra Balance line with 2 Armada sunblock for only 4,500php (can’t remember the exact price). For me It’s really a steal. Because sharing is caring, checkout the nearest S&R in your place and grab this deal!
This set includes VMV Hypoallergenic Hydra Balance Gentle Cream Cleanser, Hydra Balance toner, Hydra Balance smart moisturizer, Armada Sport SPF 70 and Armada Face and Body Shield SPF 60.
Hydra Balance Line is suitable for Combination Skin.
1. Hydra Balance Gentle Clean Cleanser
What I love about this product:
It has monolaurin which is a coconut derived antibacterial that help disinfects the skin. But you really can’t smell the coconut upon washing your face.
After washing it gives me a radiant glow and my skin became softer and smoother and most importantly it don’t break me out. It is not oily at all which I really love.
What I don’t like about this product:
This product doesn’t lather so it’s like I’m washing my face with a lotion because of it’s consistency. Thus, I feel like it doesn’t clean my skin totally. So don’t forget to remove your makeup before washing. I’ll give their makeup remover a try next time. But overall, I love this mild cleanser.
2. Hydra Balance Clarify-Brightening Toner
On my 1st and 2nd week of using VMV Products I only apply toner on Mondays and Fridays. Now I’m on my 3rd and 4th week Im using it every MWF once a day. It is important to start slow or it will dry up your face.
It helped me lighten my acne marks and gives my face a glow. It removes dirt, oil and other impurities. It also cleanses deeply.
What I don’t like about this product:
It has a strong smell of alcohol so except the stinging sensation. Especially when you have active pimples. But overall it helped me clarify and brighten up my face.
3. Hydra Balance Smart Moisturizer
I love this moisturizer because it’s lightweight and easily absorbed by my skin. A pea size is all you need. It doesn’t make my face oily unlike other moisturizers that I’ve tried.
4.VMV Armada Sport 70
Don’t ever go outside without applying sunblock. Your skin will thank you later. This sunblock is lightweight and not sticky. It is absorbed by my skin quickly so I don’t get the sticky feeling I usually get from other sunblocks which I absolutely love. It is also water resistant so it’s perfect for my beach trips. No white cast too. The best sunblock for me!
5. VMV Armada Face and Body Shield 60
10 spf lower than the VMV sport. This one is a little thicker but not that sticky too. I alternate them for everyday use. It also lighten my dark patches on my skin. I also use this as a primer when I wear makeup because of it’s mattifying effect and it makes flawless base.
Final Verdict:
After almost a month of using this Hydra Balance line I can say that it really helped my skin and I finally found the one that will save my skin. My face is now glowing and I am 30% away from my goal. Since I am left with visible pores and acne marks I will try out next is their Spring Cleaning line for oily skin. It’s really worth your money. Will keep you posted on this journey. π Now I can go outside bare faced.
We all have different skin condition so better do your research first and consult your dermatologist. This one worked for me but you might get different result. To know more about their products you may checkout their website for more details. VMV Hypoallergenics

I, too, love essential oils for my face and practice a night-time skincare regimen religiously. I find the closer I stick to nature and natural products the more my skin is fresh and glows.

I am not familiar with the brand but they do seem like nice products though when it comes to cleansers I prefer those that lather

I’ve tried this brand, especially their moisturizers and sunscreen lotion and I love them! Though they are quite pricey, they gave me a satisfactory result.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I don’t have to deal with breakouts for a long time now. It’s a bit worrying to know that this could change but I’m glad to hear about this great product line. I even want to get them anyway. That’s how cool they sound.

I agree with you. I was blessed during my teens and early adulthood that I never had breakouts, but when I was pregnant and even now, my hormones have changed and it’s something that I will just have to get used to. It’s important to find a brand that really works for you and your needs. I’m glad that you found yours.

Hands up I’ve struggled with breakouts since I was 9 or 10 and it is so annoying I definitely need to try and find some of these items as I am all for finding something that helps a little more.

Am not pregnant but itβs good to know these things upfront. Really looking forward to your post on essential oils, I only use oils on my sick because they get super itchy.

Fellow pinay here and I started breaking out after giving birth as well! I guess this is not uncommon! I started using clarisonic and with two kinds of face washes and toner and moisturizer and it’s helped. But thanks for this review! It’s good to know that it helped your skin!

Hello momma! I feel you, it’s so frustrating good thing I found the one. What brand worked for you?

so far i’m using clarisonic and with the face wash it came with. I then use a neutrogena toner and then cetaphil moisturizer. I was thinking of trying the korean skin care that i’ve heard so much about but they are so expensive!
